Narrative Style Frame Set

2026

In this project, I designed a cohesive set of 3-5 style frames that feel like they belong to the same motion sequence, showing progression, change, or escalation — without relying on motion.

Research

In this styleframe set, I intend to use sunrise as a visual metaphor for the emergence of hope. My narrative concept moves through a natural environment, beginning in a dark, enclosed jungle, transitioning into a bright and open sunrise landscape, and concluding with a close-up of a single flower. These three distinct compositions establish a clear narrative rhythm and create a shift from a macro to a micro perspective. Throughout the sequence, the element of sunrise serves as a unifying motif that visually connects all three styleframes.

Moodboard

I would like the visuals to feel more emotional and expressive, with an emphasis on visible brushstrokes and texture. Below are my stylistic references and color palette references.

First pass

In the first draft, I used a top-down composition for Frame 1; however, I found that this perspective made lighting difficult to handle and did not align well with the flatter compositions of the other two frames. As a result, in the second draft, I revised Frame 1 to a more level, frontal composition.

Initially, I aimed to create a misty atmosphere, with the light source appearing faint and partially obscured.

In the second version, in order to better align with the following two styleframes, the sunlight was made more visible and positioned closer to the horizon.

Initially, the color scheme leaned toward green tones, which felt more closely connected to nature.

Later, I revised it to a blue-dominant palette after realizing that Styleframe 1 primarily used orange and blue. This adjustment helped maintain greater color harmony across the set.
