In this project, I create one polished style frame based on a written brief that defines goals, constraints, and expectations.

01

Research

The topic I choose is 'Vox Explainers'. Vox Explainers are a content format produced by the U.S. media company Vox Media under its news brand Vox. They are primarily designed to clarify complex news topics and issues in an accessible, easy-to-understand manner. The format targets audiences who value rational discourse and seek reliable information, including students and individuals interested in politics and culture.

The client brief requires adapting Adam Clark Estes’s Vox article, “Little Videos Are Cooking Our Brains,” into an animated format intended to inform and inspire viewers.

02

Moodboard

I intend to use a diverse color palette to depict the prevalence of low-quality information across the modern internet, combined with a contemporary rendering style.

03

Sketch

Sketch 1 depicts a person walking through an ocean of information, gradually becoming lost along the way.

Sketch 2 shows an eye looking outward through a hole, incorporating the concept of the information cocoon. It is intended to convey how Vox’s high-quality journalism helps people cut to the core of issues and break through the information bubble.

A 3D reference was created in Cinema 4D to ensure greater accuracy in the geometric forms within the composition.

Drawing

First, the overall color scheme and major shapes were established.

Next, additional details and edge decorations were introduced.

At this stage, cubes were added and rendered with a glossy, metallic quality.

Finally, a subtle Gaussian blur was applied to separate the foreground elements and enhance the sense of depth.
