In this project, my design challenge is to create a fascinating visualization of one of the new musical releases from the Universal Production Music studio. The animation visually interprets the music while introducing the release’s name.

Universal Production Music is a global leader in high-quality music for film, television, advertising, and digital media. With an extensive catalog spanning all genres and moods, it provides professional composers and producers with world-class resources for creative storytelling.

Music Choice
I was looking for an instrumental track with a strong rhythm and high energy, and eventually found “Balkan Bash,” a song rich in Balkan folk elements. It features abundant trumpet instrumentation combined with house-style electronic beats, creating a unique sound. I discovered it through Universal Production Music’s search tool using the tags “fun,” “creative & quirky,” and “house.” The platform’s tag-based search function is highly powerful, allowing users to quickly locate music in their preferred styles.

Concept&Storyboards
Balkan culture is a vibrant fusion of Eastern and Western influences, shaped by centuries of diverse history across Southeast Europe. I searched for images of traditional Balkan clothing and extracted the decorative patterns to incorporate into my video. In addition, I used a vibrant, contrasting color palette to visually convey the energetic and expressive spirit of Balkan culture.
For the storyboard, I analyzed the music’s waveform and considered how variations in intensity could guide the motion, ensuring that each movement aligns naturally with the rhythm and energy of the track.

Version Iteration
In the first pass, I mainly explored approaches to graphic movement and experimented with techniques for achieving the soundwave effect.
In the second pass, I began refining the visual design concept.
In the third pass, I hand-drew additional dynamic elements to enhance the overall visual impact.
